Twenty questions that turn a job title into a brief a recruiter can search against, with room to write the answers and a template for the one-paragraph version.

What it is

A seven-page worksheet holding the twenty questions we ask on a first call, with room to write the answers. Print it, or fill it in on screen. Set aside half an hour and do it with the manager in the room.

It is not a job description template. It sits one step earlier, at the decisions a job description already assumes you have made.

Who it is for

Founders and operators at companies of two to two hundred people, opening a senior remote seat. It helps most when the manager and the person running the search are not the same person.

If you have run this hire three times and your brief already answers the questions below, you do not need it.

What is inside

Five parts, four questions each.

  • The manager. Who decides the week, what they can approve alone, and who covers them.
  • The overlap. Which hours have to be live, which meetings are only habits, and what the window costs on the other side.
  • The work. What the person owns outright, what they only contribute to, and what the first real task is.
  • Done in the first quarter. Three outcomes, how you will check each one, and what would end the engagement early.
  • The shortlist and the first week. Your non-negotiables, your tradeoffs, who interviews, and what is ready on day one.

The last page has a template for the one-paragraph version of the brief, the part you can hand to anyone.

What happens when you ask for it

Your email is used to send you the file. Nothing else goes out unless you ask for it.

If you would rather skip the form, write to hello@hirayatalent.com and we will send the worksheet back.
