How an engagement works
Contractor terms, your own device, registered where you live
Two things run in parallel: the work, which the client directs, and the agreement, which we hold.
You are engaged as an independent contractor under a written agreement with Hiraya. You work on your own device, and you are responsible for your registration and taxes where you live. We ask about that before you start, and we tell you what we need to see.
The client directs your work day to day: you join their team, their meetings and their tools. Hiraya pays you, checks in with you at day 7, 30, 60 and 90, and stays one business day away after that.
If something is wrong
Tell your account owner. We take it up with both sides, and we do it early.
The live interview
A conversation with a recruiter before anything is submitted
Every applicant has a live video interview with a recruiter before any profile goes to a client.
We confirm who you are, talk through your recent work in your own words, and check the practical things: device, connection, availability and registration.
It is a conversation, not a test. When a client sees your profile, someone at Hiraya has already vouched for it. Their interview can be about the work.
The name
Why we are called Hiraya
The word is Filipino. Its meaning is on the about page.
Hiraya is where the tagline comes from: the team you imagined, delivered. For a client, that is the team they pictured.
For you, we hope it is the work you pictured: senior, paid fairly, and supported after the start date.

When am I paid?
Twice a month, in your currency, in full. The schedule is in your agreement.
Do I need my own equipment?
Yes. You work on your own device, with a connection that holds up on video.
Who do I report to?
The client's manager, for the work. Hiraya, for the agreement, payment and support. Your account owner is the same person the client talks to.
What happens at the yearly review?
You, the client and Hiraya sit down together and review your pay. Nothing about your pay is decided in a room you are not in.
What if I am in Mexico or Brazil?
We can place you through Search, where the client hires you directly rather than through us.
